I have asked many a time, What there is to this life? Is it hope, is it love, is it friendship? Or is it adventure, is it achievement, is it ecstacy? My days have rolled As to the answer to this question, I am still very much fooled. When my spirits were soaring high, It seemed life is for adventure. When a moment of truth crept in my life I thought life is for ecstasy. When my fellow brother cried on my shoulder, I thought life is for friendship. And so the waves of my thought Saw an ebb and a fall. For want of an answer I asked many a person, Some told me, it is a gift so priceless That I cannot ask why? Some said I was too blind To all the goodness that there is to life, And so I question why. I was told to live the moment, And question not, for it is only torment Then I said, Should I settle for ignorance, And wade through life in somnolence. To see the vast sea and not grasp infinity To listen to the throbbing of a baby’s heart And not understand the miracle of life, To see the smiles of our grand parents And not see the grace of god, To have experienced the goodness of love And not give love in return These and many more are what makes man blind. But to think without questioning, that the road that you are treading on is the road that you want to be on, To think that what you are Is what you want to be, Is just like Standing behind a tree And thinking that the fullmoon is only half. And so I did not give up What has come to be my second nature. On the way, I attaracted friend and foe, Love and hate, Some praised me, some detested me, Some held hands with me, some broke ties with me, Some looked me straight in the eye, Some just turned the corner when they saw me, Still, I am what I am, And one day, I saw my reflection in the mirror, Alas, What I saw was a stormy ocean and a thunderous sky, Of change and calm, of change and calm whirling round and round. NOW I ask myself what am I. I know for sure that the quest that started in me Can only end in me. And a wise old man told me, The quest starts with a question in you, And the end shall consume you.
