What is birthday meant by you?
For me,it is a responsibility. Every year, when my birthday comes nearer, i grew more and more sad because it is same as the other years and my time to serve people is reducing. 'I haven't done anything for my fellow-beings yet' is what I feel and I don't celebrate my birthday.
This year, I am studying in final year of my b.e studies and I thought that this time I should celebrate my birthday (at least I should carry some sweet memories when I leave out this campus). And I made several arrangements for this, like knowing about how to give help to poor and stuff of such kind. I couldn't get enrolled into any as most of the final yearites of our campus have enrolled into almost all of the social services organised by NSS, a trust-worthy organisation, to reach out for the poor people. So, finally I was happy that I am going to help the 11 year old kid which was again shattered by this distance of mine. I can't send the money to the kid as I am in a remote place in North part of India, from where it takes 3 days for the courier to reach AP.
It will be only my mental satisfaction to think that the money reached the needy, but I know that it hadn't reached on time.
So, this birthday is also going to be a mere waste for me. but now, I have read that I have some work in the NSS. Even still now I am not celebrating my birthday because that was the money that I kept for my birthday celebrations which I later thought to donate for the child. Now if I celebrate my birthday with that, I'll feel that I did a very wrong thing.
oh! I think i forgot to tell u,I am from a middle class family where there is always a tough fight between needs and desires with limited amount of money in hand. So it often happens that we cannot buy our 'desires'. This was a minor reason for not celebrating my birthday major reason being the above mentioned. My father is a person who donated all his money to help others without thinking for our family and I am proud that I share his blood and want to go in his footprints, definitely with a reserve for my family to fulfill their needs if not to buy their desires. I am also proud of my mother who have a kind heart to give us wisdom through her talks to help others and serve others.
I hope I can celebrate my next birthday with having achieved something in my life and I am really looking forward into something with which I can feel that I am a 'practical' daughter of my parents.
I don't want any comments on this topic but advices are always welcomed. This are just my views and I am in no intention to hurt others'
Thanking you
Voice.
