Dinesh is hurried and worried..
He knows that there is a big crowd standing in front of the train in which he is traveling. There might be some kind of bundd or 'raastha roko'. He does not have much time left for his final exam. His train normally reaches Kachiguda by 9:00 AM every day. Today he has the final exam at 10:00 AM. Already for last one hour these mobs are stopping the train. After some policemen entering into the scene, they gave way and train has started moving.
Dinesh thought that he will reach examination cetner may be 5 or 10 miniutes late. There is a big BANG on one of the train windows. A big mob started throwing stones on to train. Some got hurt, a person pulled the chain and train got stopped again. Now Dinesh don't want to take chances, he got out of train and walked to the nearby road and took a lorry and got ride up to ring road. He has taken an auto and reached his examination center. He is 1 hour late. Examiner did not allow him to take the exam. He was so upset. He was preparing hard since last one month for this exam. He thought of committing suicide and had changed his thought getting his mom and dad in to mind.
By the time when he reached home, his father explaining his mom how adventurously they did their raastha roko at the railway station for their union demands. God knows whether their demands fulfilled or not. But already his son lost his valuable one year of education. He just missed to loose his son's life.
There might be lots of others whose sons could not make up to their exams, missed to reach hospital on time, missed office timings and lost half day pay and on whole nation might have lost assets worth crores of rupees.
Why don't the public realize that they have their share of rupee in the bus they have blasted, train they have burnt?
Why don't they think they are destroying their own assets? Trains, busses, government offices.. these are all not owned by those politicians or officials. These are public assets. Our nation is loosing crores of rupees every day towards the foolish way of protests against government.
For the last two years I'm living here in USA. I have never seen this kind of 'raastha roko', bundh or strikes. I have never even read in any local news paper about such acts.
I wish we can find a better way of expressing our demands and protesting against government's unrealistic acts.
