Peter and Paul were brothers. But while Paul was very hard working and the richest person in the town, Peter was extremely lazy and did not work, even to earn a living. Peter's wife found it very difficult to run the house, while Peter just ate and slept.
One day, Peter's wife went to Paul and requested him to help them. Paul who lived by clock expected everybody around to work hard. He decided to visit Peter and get him to mend his ways.
Paul was shocked to see Peter sleeping at noon! He woke him up and asked him to go to the forest nearby and get some timber so that he could start earning. Everyone thought it was a bad idea because they knew Peter was too lazy to do any work. But Paul insisted tht Peter should come back with timber.
Peter went to forest equipped with an axe, a lamp, some food and a sleeping bag.Upon reaching the forest, Peter realised tht he didn't know what timber was ! He rummaged all over the place for many days but in vain. He then decided that timber was probably something to be found underground and started digging.
His efforts bore him a fruit. He found a dusty old sack under the soil. He was thrilled. He thought he had found timber and carried it back to home.
His wife and Paul were dissppointed that after so many days, Peter had come back with an old sack. However when Paul untied the sack he was astonished. The sack was full of GOLD!!!
'We asked you to fetch timber,and you came back with a sack of gold', said delighted Mrs.Peter
'What? gold? no! I brought back a sack of timber, not gold' protested Peter.
Paul laughed and explained Peter. He started up a business for Peter and taught him how to manage it. Peter started working hard and his business flourished. He bacame the richest man in the town and he and his wife lived happily ever after.
