Ingredients:
rice-1 cup
toovar dal-half cup
mixed vegetables-1 cup
(carrots,beans,peas,double beans,raddish)
sambar onions-half cup
tumeric powder- 1/4 tsp
tamarind-size of small lime
ghee-half cup
curry leaves-2-3 sprigs
tomatoes- two to three
salt to taste
MASALA::--
cinnamon-1 stick
red chilles- three to four
pepper,jeera-1tsp
urad dal-1 tsp
corinder seeds- 2 and half tsps
channa dal-2 tsps
copra (grated)- 3/4 cup
GARNISHING::::-
capsicum-1 cup
groundnuts-half cup
mustard-half tsp
METHOD::
roast masalas. separtely roast the copra on low flame until light brown.Powder them and keep aside.
Pressure cook dal,rice and vegetables with sufficient water,salt to taste and timeric powder. When done,add the tamarind extract and let it boil a little longer.
heat ghee in a kadhai, spultter mustard seeds,add curry leaves and groudnuts and fry for sometime.Then asss finely chopped capsicum and sambar nions.Lastly add the tomatoes.
add this garnishing to the rice,dal and vegetables mixture. Serve hot with potato chips or khara boondhi.
