Articles: Moral Stories | Rejoice the present - Mrs. sharmila Sanka
| |
Renee was patting her daughter Tabu who was sleeping in her lap. Her lap seemed to be so small and she was reminded of the years passed in happiness and anxiety. Tabu was just born then and the happiness Renee experienced when Tabu was placed on her was indescribable. Her husband Tony was happy too to see the tears rolling down Renee’s cheeks. They were not the tears of sorrow but that of happiness. She had the satisfaction of achieving something great in her life; to borne a life in her womb and the same life taking form of her little daughter.
Every day was a period of test and thrill to Renee. Often she had very bad dreams of losing Renee and there were nights she woke up shouting …No, No….this shouldn’t happen. Then Tony would hold her into his arms and pacify her saying they were just dreams which never meant to come true. Then she would sleep peacefully after hearing the peaceful breath of her daughter.
6 Years passed on this way and Renee came back to this world from the memories of Tabu who was sleeping on her lap. Tabu woke up, she seemed to be very dull.
‘What happened?’ Renee questioned.
‘One of my class mates laughed at me when I fell down in the rain water. I was very hurt mama. Why should she rejoice at my problems? Tabu asked mommy.
Tabu dear, every being is different. Not all are alike. Some people feel happy at others’ happiness while others are happy at others’ sorrow. We should not change with their behavior. We should be distinct in our own little ways to make a difference in others’ lives. Do not imitate the one who laughed at you. Do not rejoice in others’ sorrow. God is there watching all our actions. He is the final judge. Live in a right manner dear child.’ Mommy pacified.
Tabu took a deep breath as if she took in the message and breathed out only to breathe out her sorrow.
‘Thank you mommy for your advice, I shall remember all my life.’ Tabu said and she washed her face, kissed her mommy and hugged her and went out for a stroll bidding good bye to her mommy.
Lo, there was a terrific scream and hearing that, the water jug fell down forcibly from the shivering hands of Renee. Renee was shocked to see her daughter lie down on the road while the car took off. Her neighbor approached Renee hurriedly and told all that happened which took Tabu’s life away on this earth. Renee was dumbfounded. She fell down senseless and her neighbor called Tony and the cops.
Tabu was taken to the hospital and the doctor declared there is no more life left in her. Doctor looked at Renee and said she had a temporary shock and would be fine soon. Tony sprinkled some water on her face. Renee was reminded of the tragic incident. She cried in despair, her throat didn’t let her cry anymore. Tony was helpless and in tears. Should he console his wife or cry for his lost child? Why is God so cruel he thought.
Tony consoled Renee saying - fear draws negativity towards us. It will make the things we feared turn true. Your fear of losing Tabu came true. What we think, so will happen. So be positive. Rejoice in the present and do not have fear about the future. Let’s not fear of losing each other, let’s treasure every moment in the present for a happy future. Our daughter is a little angel who lives in our hearts in the form of this message.
A year passed on with sorrow and one evening Renee and Tony were taking a stroll in a serene place. Renee spoke about her loving daughter Tabu. Softly touched her tummy she said, “I shall treasure the life within my womb this time by being positive. I wish Renee came back into my womb. Now that I learnt my mistake, I shall cherish her beautiful touch.” They smelt the perfume their daughter wore often coming from Renee’s womb. They heard the sweet music of Tabu as the breeze touched their cheeks. ‘No wonder, Tabu is right in your womb.’ Tony continued with excitement. ‘God is not cruel.’
