Lord Helios left for his evening siesta
Leaving one half of the globe grope for light
And look at the star lit night with delight
While my mates are all in a deep slumber,
I stood wide awake, afraid, may be of a thunder.
I came up, stared at the dark sky.
With neck stretched like a Giraffe.
Passing over my head was an aeroplane
Seeing it with the eyes of the binoculars,
Startled was I – as if I woke from a nightmare.
I saw the Orion... the day I first saw it flashed.
The same old orion.. same old night...
Same old moon.. same old stars
In all these years –
Neither my mates changed , nor the surroundings
But, lifes not all the same.
My playful childhood……lost in time.
My youth….it met the same fate…
My middle age lost in the ratrace to excel
My eld…full of remorse.
First, it was fun. Then, a game.
Then, a strenuous exercise.
Later, a compromise.
Now, it is nothing but a mere hokum.
Did I ruin my life ? Or did life ruin me ?
In this dark light, all I can say now is-
Life's never the same!
Life's never the same!
