Some of the popular Telugu TV Channels, especially TV 9 and ETV, have been doing good work in exposing corruption in many of the Govt Depts such as Revenue, RTA, Public Distribution, Education, Social Welfare, Commercial Taxes, Excise, Police, Medical etc etc, as well as malpractices by private traders, individuals and establishments. Not a day passes without these channels coming out with a couple of stories about corruption and/or malpractices.
All of us are also aware that what these channels expose is only a tiny fraction of the rot that has set in our society; the more black money these corrupt people accumulate, the more greedy they become. Also the practical experience of the common man, whenever he has to deal with a Govt Dept,is that nothing moves unless bribes are given. This is true of more than
80-85% Depts of the Govt. To put it in a lighter vein, one was surprised by the 'noise' these Govt employees were making sometime ago, about the Pay Revision Commission's recommendations; with so much 'additional income', do these guys really need pay revision? Any way, one does not wish to digress too much from the topic i.e. the good work being done by the Telugu TV Channels.
While discussing this issue, three aspects come to one's mind.The first is that only 'small fish' get caught into this TV net; it is difficult to catch 'big fish'. The second is that they must not waste efforts on very small/minor cases of corruption. The third is that these channels should guard against 'scandal mongering' and 'witch-hunting' in the name of 'sting operations'.
May God give more power to these channels and other channels too emulate the good work being done by these channels.
