Ingredients :
-------------
Raw Banana (aratikaya)-2
Lemon-1
Grated coconut-2 tables spoons
Cilantro leaf-1bunch
Green chillies-4-5
Curry leaf- 3leaflets
Channa daal-1/2cup
Mustard-1/2tea spoon
Urad-1/2 tea spoon
Jeera(cumin seeds)-1/2 tspoon
Oil
Salt
procedure :
----------
1)Soak the channadaal for about an hour.
2)Peel and cut the raw banana into small cubes and boil for 5minutes. See that it is only half cooked.Don't make it soggy. Strain the water in a colander and keep the bananna cubes aside.
3)Meanwhile heat a nonstick khadai and put oil and do seasoning with mustard, urad, jeera and then the soaked channadaal and 5-6 curry leaves, fry until done.Add little turmeric powder, salt to it and stir well.
4)Now add the strained bananna cubes to the above and stir it well and cook it covered for 5-10 minutes until the bananna cooks well. In between keep stirring and see that bananna does not stick to the pan.
5)Make a smooth paste of green chillies, coconut, cilantro leaf and curry leaf.
6)Then remove the lid and cook for 3-4 minutes and add this coconut+greenchillies+curryleaf+cilantro leaf paste and stir it well and cook with lid and without lid for some more time until done.
7)Finally add lemon juice and serve it.
Note :
------
1)This curry is usually prepared in weddings, gruhapravesam, satyanarayana puja functions etc. I learnt this recipe from my aunt who used to prepare for their household functions at vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh.
------
2)For people who stay in USA, coconut may not be tasty here. So, I usually buy the frozen grated coconut from frozen section in the Indian stores which is really good. I thaw it for sometime before I use it. It's good.
