TO WASHINGTON D.C. (A SHORT PLAYLET ) BY: K.VIRABHADRA SASTRI, BASTROP (TX) (Characters & Diologues can be americanised if required) CHARACTERS: PALLAVI (17) , KEERTANA (13) , ALEKHYA (12) & AMULYA (5) L.F= Left side in the front of stage & RF= Right side in the front of stage PROLOG: (Here we find four girls Pallavi, Keertana, Alekhya& Amulya Studying in different classes in Bastrop. This month they have three days holidays on Friday, Saturday & Sunday. Mr.Jagam, father of Pallavi & Keertana accepted to send the four girls to Washington D.C. to spend the vacations with their brother Vijay). Now the Play starts. SCENE..I (When the curtain raises, Pallavi comes from LF waving flight tickets in her hand) Pallavi: Hey Keertana, Alekhya, Amulya! Where are you guys? Come On. (All the three come from RF) Keertana: What’s the matter sister? Pallavi: Good news. Daddy okeyed our trip to Washington. Here are the tickets. (She waves the tickets in the air) All 3: Is it? Very good. So we … Pallavi: Why all you speak at a time. Just one of you enough Keertana: Alright! I do the talk. So we are going to our brother Vijay. Alekhya: Should we not take any presentation to him? Pallavi: Ya! Good idea. Afternoon we will ask mummy to take us to Mall. There we can purchase some nice article for Vijay. Amulya: How about a pizza?? Pallavi: What?? Pizza?? You always be eating, eating and nothing else. No. we aren’t giving him any eatables. Only some special article. Keertana: Alright let us select in the Mall. Amulya: Better consider pizza also. Alekhya: You shut up Amulya. We will do the selection and not you. Understand? (Amulya nods her head) Pallavi: Let us go and ask Mummy now. (All go to RF) …. SCENE II (All the four enter from RF with small luggage in their hands) Pallavi: Keertana! Have you packed your garments sufficient for two days? Kertana: Ya! Pallavi: You Alekhya? Did you keep for Amulya also? Alekhya: Ya. She has them in her small stroll suit case. Amulya: But sister, let us take the cabinet also with us Pallavi: Are you crazy? Cabinet as our luggage ?? Amulya: Ya. I prefer it. Pallavi: Shut up. If you keep on saying this nonsense, you are not coming Amulya: But Sister.. Pallavi: I say shut up and keep moving. Daddy and Mummy are waiting in the garage for us. Let us move. Amulya: (murmuring) You people don’t understand. That cabinet…….. Alekhya: Amulya! Will you keep quiet and move. No more talking. Pallavi: Enough. Let us start. You know We have to go to Houston driving all the way for 2 hours. (All exit to LF towards garage) SCENE III (In the Houston Airport) Pallavi: Alekhya! Hold Amulya! Let us go to the Continental Air lines Counter. By the time we go there, Daddy and Mummy will meet us. Keertana: I think they will take some time to find parking place. Pallavi: Ofcourse. I will take out the tickets (She opens her hand bag and Searches).. O God! What happened to the tickets? Keertana! see your Hand bag if the tickets are with you? Keertana: Tickets? There are’nt with me. Amulya: We would have brought the cabinet Pallavi: You shut up. Don’t disturb us. Keertana look into your hand bag Keertana: (Searches) No Sister. They are not with me. Pallavi: Then what happened to tickets. My God! Did we forget in the house? Amulya: Ya Pallavi: Sure?? How do you know? Amulya: I put the tickets in the cabinet last night. Pallavi, Keertana & Alekhya: w ..h.. a.. t ????????? (Curtain falls)
