If cricket were a religion in India it would have 700 million devotees, some hundreds of priests and there would be 11 cricketing Gods , with a famous trinity, Sachin -- the Creator , Sourav - the Destroyer , Rahul - the Protector.There will be some 50 festivals a year for the cricket devotees. If it's jihad for muslims ,and crusades for christians, it's cricket for Indians. When the whole world was keen about the war at kargil , the cricketing world ,even the soldiers at kargil ,watched with keen interest the encounter at Old Trafford. And when India emerged victorious in the holy war it was an omen of things to come at kargil.
Cricket is not just a sport but a passion for indians. .It is no exaggeration that fiat palio was successful just because of its endorser sachin tendulkar. When the match starts the atmosphere is absolutely electrifying with the crowd chanting the mantra 'India jeetega '. The noteworthy point is that cricket brings out people belonging to different communities to a single stage.
A critic said “cricket is a game played by 11 fools and watched by 11 thousand fools'. My opinion is that the critic must be a big fool instead. Watching cricket has got its own advantages. Above all it is a best source of entertainment. Watching the franatic home crowd incites patriotic feeling in us. whether it is rain or shine, a thumping victory or a slumping misery, a run feast or a wicket riot, a cliffhanger or a onesider, Cricket continues to be the crowd puller in India.
