U.N or India has a greater role in Iraq.

This letter refers to the latest U.S’s offer to Pakistan to join a ‘stabilization force’ in the post-war Iraq, Dawn of Pakistan reported. It also stated that ‘the peacekeeping force would have troops from several Muslim countries because the U.S authorities believe that their presence would pacify the Iraqis without hurting their religious feelings’. Alas, it will definitely lay origins for the fundamentalism. Hence, if the Dawn is correct, it is good that the American has realized that their presence hurt the feelings of Iraqis. But, there is a miscalculation by the Americans and the Britons. There should be either the U.N peacekeeping or reconstruction force or NGOs, but not the religious people for the construction of a devastated country. Everybody knows the attitude of Pakistanis. Nothing will go wrong, if the total re-construction of Iraq is given to India, supervised by the U.N. India can train the Iraqis in the art of democracy, the same is not possible with Pakistan. Because as Pakistan itself under military dictatorial ship, it is not possible. Saddam Hussain ruthlessly suppressed the fundamentalism in Iraq. As Iraq has almost 40 per cent of Shias, Iran may take advantage and create trouble in Basra and surrounding regions. If the U.S. did the war against Iraq to arrest the spread of global terrorism or to depose a dictator, it should not think on religious lines. If the U.S. failed to stop thinking on that way, it will create another dictator, or another fundamentalist organization that cause trouble to the U.S. itself. India has a major role to play in Iraq after the war, as it has very good relations with Iraqis. Iraqis respect Indian presence. Iraq is not an Islamic country, but perfectly secular. The effective and correct medicine for the nightmares from the demolition and war is none other than Humanity. India is very rich in this regard more than Americans.
