NOTE : I AM NOT WRITING THIS TO HURT ANY GENDER, IT IS JUST A THOUGHT OF MINE.
Since my childhood, right from my schooldays, when I asked my classmates, what their mother does, if they say 'she is a Housewife', I felt strange thinking whether being a housewife a job?? But I couldnt clear off this doubt. I came across the same word used by many women, even on TV shows like 'phone for a song' or something like that many women say that thieirwork is being a housewife.
Then I got a doubt, whether it is really a tough job to be a housewife?? I thought of trying some suchthings. When I am alone at home, I did many things by myself. I cooked, washed dishes, washed and ironed clothes, got household things from market, cleaned floors. Ofcourse I got tired after doing all these things, because I was never accustomed to do all of them once and I had to attend to my other routines too at that time.
I know that there will be two more works for an ideal housewife, they are giving her body to her husband, and taking care of children. If I were a woman and if I were married, I don't think that they are very difficult if the partner was a person whom I love. And taking care of chiildren will always be a joyeous work, whether those children are from me or of someone else.
Then I got a doubt, if the marraige is with a person of love, all these works will go quite smoothly. But many women say that its a great job to be a housewife and they must all be proud of it. I don't see any such pride in that. I see this as just an ordinary daily life job. For a man, job, which may be as an office clerk or as a business man, it doesn't add much to his pride.
What adds to the pride of a humanbeing, how far did he help others and what he did to society and to the world. A man cannot be considered great if he takes care of his own wife and children. Similarly a woman can't be considered great for only as she is a good housewife.
I think the women cannot attain any indepndence as long as there are women who designate themselves as HOUSEWIVES in this country. A woman should be something else than a housewife.
