| |
The generic term family is a group of people living together in the same house. This is specially aimed at married couple with their children.
Very often, family is wrongly understood as a group of adults and children living together who may or may not have blood relationship.
Biblically speaking, an ideal family unit is a man staying with his legal wife and children committed to an enduring relationship.
Here there are two aspects worth turning our focus on viz.,
1). Relationship between husband and wife
2). Relationship between parents and children
Strengthening these relationships is the chief objective.
God intended marriage to be a relationship of continuity & trust and a firm commitment for life. It is true that to sustain such relationship it requires very strong conviction.
The husband and wife need to understand that this relationship indirectly contributes to the ‘Morale building’ of the nation in general and ‘Societal harmony’ in particular.
As some one rightly said, ‘If you do not stand for something (Ideal) in life then you would fall for everything’. To stand for a family ideal is a noble and worthy cause.
If parents seem happy and feel happy, obviously their children too would learn to be happy.
Home is the foremost learning and training institution for any child. According to medical psychologists, the personal attitude of a child starts developing and get set very rapidly between the age 3-5 yrs. and there after attitudinal changes are hard to be modified or brought in except through intensive training. Therefore, two personalities play a vital role in molding the character of a child, viz., the ‘PARENTS’ and early childhood ‘TEACHER’.
