We landed in a foreign country 5 years back. I found people who are here for ages and for decades. After seeing the life here, I really feel and try to think why people opt for foreign countries? When I happened to some people, the way they talk shows that they were desperate to have basic amenities and they were not capable of having them there in India with their so called education and knowledge. Ofcourse it is directed to only some sector of people and not all. When they talk about cars or for that matter anything they have here would have been a dream to them if they had lived in India. So they also think that all other people belong to that category. But the reality of scenario is not that. But there are people who had really better life in India having all luxurious living amenities besides a prestigeous job and status in society and even they take a decision to leave the country at one stage, due to the turmoil they get if they think about the future of their children. When we see the pressure and tension of children and their future career and the stiff competition, parents take a decision to give them a bit relaxed and comfortable environment and boost their confidence levels. Again it all depends. conditional to the child's career goals, strengths and weaknesses and other personal attributes.
A small example. A gentleman of 75 years old visits his friend and after sometime rings up his son and tells him to pick him up around 6.30p.m. But due to old age and other attachments the talk goes on. By the time he sees his watch it is 6.40 and goes out to see that his son's car going back home with such a rage and speed and comes back inside and rings him on his mobile and the answer he gets is 'Sorry Dad. I was there wating for you for so long (10 minutes) and I have my priorities and committments. You can come back by bus'. Puts down the phone. Do you expect this in India? This is what Indians have learnt in foreign countries about punctuality. No concerns for elders or no concessions for parents. They forget the fact that the same parents brought them here and gave them a luxurious life style. Is this really a progress? I have seen more deviations but regret the way we adjust here in foreign countries.
