Good Governance in AP - A Simple Test
There is a simple and effective way of determining whether the govt of our state is efficient or not . Have just one look at the road traffic in various parts of Hyderabad.
This is not a simplistic view, but the reasons are simple ; the requirements for smooth and speedy traffic flow are:
* Traffic / Road - sense of the road-users
* Adequate police force to control traffic ; effective signalling , lighting and other infrastructure
* Wide roads to accommodate the heavy traffic flow
* Prevention of encroachments by shop-keepers , vendors and others onto the roads and kerbsides / pavements
* Co-ordination between R&B dept and Electricity authority for electricity-related works on or near the roads
* Co-ordination between R&B dept and Water supply dept for water supply / sewerage -related works near or on the roads
* Co-ordination between R&B dept and BSNL / other cable-laying agencies for works near or on the roads
* Ensuring fitness of vehicles in all respects
The govt of the day has to ensure the fulfilment of the above requirements, for smooth traffic flow. This calls for honesty of purpose, availability of adequate finances, corruption-free and highly effective administration and sustained efforts to monitor that there are no slippages.
If a govt is capable of achieving this in Hyderabad, can there be any doubt what so ever, that it would also be a highly effective govt in all other areas / regions and spheres of activity in the state ?
