Allah can understand Telugu prayers
Logic behind Arabic: Muslim Scholars argue that Qur'an is the
miracle revealed by Allah. People failed to produce anything like
it. It is for this all Muslims are bound to learn the Holy Qur'an in
its original language, for its miraculous nature is represented in
its words, style and many other things. Each single word carries
more than one meaning. In translation, we just convey one of the
meanings in the target language, but not all the meanings. On
reading the translated meanings of the Qur'an we will never get the
same impression we can get when reading it in Arabic. Moreover, in a
certain context, a word may have a certain meaning that is totally
different from the meaning it may carry when it occurs in another
context. The Holy Qur'an is not mere words or expressions; rather,
it is something great and magnificent.
The Azan is being given in Arabic but the Telugu people
residing beside that mosque do not know Arabic. That is why they can
never understand it's meaning even after 20 years. If we give that
call in Telugu, they will certainly understand it, and the
responsibility to obey that call will be very clear to them. One
Uncompromising point I got from the Urdu speaking Muslims is this:-
'Arabic utterance was made compulsory in Namaaz only to preserve
the Quran in its original language and to by heart it.'
A mere utterance without understanding will be
like a Sanskrit Mantra which is coming out of the mouth of a Poojari
who don't know its meaning and it will become a meaningless practice
to a layman when he is not able to understand what he says.
When the meaning of Azaan was explained, an ex-minister felt very
happy and said that all these years (he is 75 years old) he
understood that these Muslims are remembering the emperor Akbar and
he corrected him, then went on saying to people that they have to
learn many good things from the Muslims. We are regularly hearing
the prayer call from the mosques but don't know its meaning, unable
to understand that we are being called for prayers. What about other
Telugu people?
