1. Loins girt about with truth: Our loins deal with our mind. Fill your mind with the Word of God. Reading and meditating on this will protect us in our daily lives. 2.The breastplate of righteousness: The breastplate covers the vital organs and speaks of the heart. The breastplate of righteousness fortifies the heart against the attacks of the enemy. Allow the righteousness revealed in God’s Word to influence our mind and penetrate deeply into our heart. When the truth of the God’s word touches our life, it brings transformation and renewal. 3. Feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace: The Word of God must affect our walk, our life. This happens as His Word fills our mind, touches our heart, and is manifest or seen in our daily routine. It all begins with our mind. We begin to read the Word and hear the Word; it then influences and fill our heart with truth. This affects our actions and our daily life. 4. The shield of faith: Faith brings powerful results, for when faith is joined with the results of the Word in our mind, heart, and life, the Word of God declares, “Ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.” Armed with the Word of God and faith, we can withstand the onslaught of the enemy and render his fiery darts ineffective. 5.The helmet of salvation: In the natural, the helmet protects the head from injury in battle. Some mistakenly believe that the helmet deals with the mind. However, the helmet of salvation deals with doctrine. Once the truth enters our mind, touches our heart, affects our life and walk, and is manifest in our actions, it becomes our nature. The helmet of salvation deals with our nature, our character, our doctrine; what we believe is who we are. Application of God’s Word makes us balanced and stable. When proper doctrine is in place in our life, we are not moved by error or taken by false teaching. 6. The sword of the Spirit: All the armor up to this point has served a defensive purpose, intended for use in facing the enemy. Each piece of armor provided protection from an attack. The Holy Scriptures protect us against the enemy, affecting our mind, heart, walk, actions, nature, character, and life. As our life becomes strong and established, the sword of the Spirit becomes an offensive weapon against the enemy. Unmovable, unshakable, and because of the truth within, we are able to stand victoriously against the evil one and his army. 7. Prayer and supplication: The final weapon is what keeps our prayer that covers and clothes us like a mantle. “Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit.” The above seven religious principles will deliver us from the Seven Types of Bondages: 1. Regression 2. Repression 3. Suppression 4. Depression 5. Oppression 6. Obsession 7. Possession This is vital and timely instruction to help us and our loved ones to live victoriously in a sin-stained world. Sukumar K (Infosys)
