May the Lord bless those who lost their lives due to a senseless action of one person in the ‘Virginia Tech Massacre.’
What is the root cause of people gulping the innocent lives of other people? What’s the root cause of husbands killing wives and vice versa? What is the root cause behind developing and bursting of negative emotions among the tender hearts of children? Shall we call it freedom with no limitations? No doubt, freedom is the motto of the modern child or a citizen at home, school, university or at work place- freedom to express one’s own self be it negative or positive.
Any negative feeling is not meant to be expressed in a negative way. Every one should know that freedom doesn't mean experiencing freedom at the cost of others. One should know even the other person has the right to enjoy the same freedom as he. Let alone humans, even the birds and animals strive for freedom. When those creatures enjoy freedom and are aware of their limitations, why can’t human beings be aware of their limitations? Awareness needs to be inculcated in every child and for this to happen the first step should be the responsibility of the parents and elders. As it is said, when the mother cow is grazing off the crop, will its calf stand quiet on the field bund?
The solution for all the chaos can be found and realized by the elders first. They have to be cautious while growing up their kids. Giving their kids freedom is all what they feel is important. But giving them the right freedom –freedom from evil thoughts should be their sole objective.
The present day world has become a world of hatred, jealousy, anger, fear and frustration. Peace has become pieces. All these negative feelings are not at all meant to be expressed in disastrous ways. When the hearts of youth are filled with such negativity, even their deeds race as per their thoughts. Parents should be exemplary to Youth and make them realize the value of controlling their anger, frustration and hatred. As elders, they should teach their children ways to deal with these fears. They should teach the value of LIFE. They should teach them to respect their place of learning.
The solution doesn't lie in increased security of any means. As some people think, the solution doesn't lie in providing guns to their children for their safety. Children should not be taught to deal any matter with guns or weapons of any kind. The only weapon youth has to use is the weapon of little love and regard for other beings. Awareness of one’s own responsibility is all that matters. The solution lies only in controlling the evil thoughts and actions in the youth. This alone can bring change in the community. This alone can promise a better world in the future. Not until the parents are changed, not until the parents bring awareness in their children will this chaos stop. Let’s hope every individual acts with utmost discrimination before taking any step especially in public. We have no right to take away another’s smile.
