My Dream TV NEWS Channel

My Dream TV NEWS Channel September 24 was Girl Child's Day. There are many nderprivileged Indian girl children, who need the nation’s attention. Yet, nothing has been mentioned in the News channels, news papers. I found it nowhere, except in the mailer sent by CRY [www.cry.org] and on web pages of similar NGOs. Instead, the first headline on NDTV, is the anniversary of Aksharadham incident. And the rest of the news items, as usual, no way useful to me than just knowing them. This is nothing new, I believe. Everyday we watch in TV channels, and read in news papers, magazines, news about corruption, Criminals, political parties alleging each other, terrorist activities, how a certain group of people cheated the other, bollywood rumours etc. Most of the news items try to showcase how grave the situation is, and make you believe that they are the best police to bring out all those issues on to the table. But none of them showcase, what is best in India. What is useful to everybody? This has been a trend everybody is used to, that People like to criticize everything and everybody else out of selfish intentions (TV channels to increase their viewership, news papers to improve their subscriptions, people to get publicity...) but this has devastating affects on our culture and negatively influencing the Indian mind set. These media have been conditioning the people to have negative attitudes towards the society by letting people to know about ONLY negative aspects of society. Most of the times, by most of the media. If you watch local channels, (example, Gemini, e-tv, maa, teja in Andhra Pradesh) you will not find anything, but movies or programs based on movies or somehow related to movies. Only few programs stand apart, but they can be easily numbered, and telecasted in odd hours. Otherwise, they show case all 24 hours with some soap serials and movies. And nothing else. Channels in the rest of the country does the same. They never portrait an Indian Scientist victory with so much passion they do a political coverage or a terrorist bombing incident coverage. I haven’t seen news channels talking to an ISRO scientist about his habits, life style etc. But I have seen lots of character less bollywood pampers. A special report on how a certain group of people changed their lives by doing something out of their own instead of blaming everybody else for their misfortune. How an NGO is trying to bring a change in the society. Nothing about a sports person (other than cricketers), a business man who stands for values and yet succeeds, a former who lead a revolutionary path in farming etc. I have never seen a IAS topper being interviewed. But I have seen a movie star being interviewed on his debut. All these stories, if published or shown on TV, I believe, will create a positive influence on our minds and gives us enough confidence to work hard in whatever we do and encourage us to achieve some thing meaningful. Moreover, you achieve all these while keeping up your values. This is the simple reason, our parents used to tell us all those fairly tales, where truth and hard work and your nice deeds wins over the rest. Here is a story, which portraits what conditioning could do to our lives: “An eagle’s egg was placed in the nest of a prairie chicken. The egg hatched and the little eagle grew up thinking it was a prairie chicken. The eagle did what the chickens did. It scratched in the dirt for seeds. It clucked and cackled. It never flew more than a few feet because that is what the chickens did. One day he saw an eagle flying gracefully and majestically in the open sky. He asked the prairie chickens, ‘what is that beautiful bird?’. They replied, ‘that is an eagle. He is an outstanding bird, but you can not fly like him because you are just a prairie chicken’. So the eagle never gave it a second thought, believing that to be the truth. He lived the life of and died of prairie chicken, depriving himself of his heritage because of lack of vision. He was born to win but CONDITIONED to loose. (From, You Can Win by Shiv Khera)” By reading news papers, and watching TV, many of us believe that India is just this. And most of the Indians are like this. But, we have equally large number of people, who lead, inspire and transform the lives of Indian people, if they are introduced to the rest of the country through this media. The change has to come from the YOU. I mean, the YOU. Please give it a thought, how you can create a positive influence. Try to see the BEST in the people, in the system and in the country. You will soon become the best and your country the best. This was a dream I had few days ago. I started up yet another new TV news channel; I have these programs in my channel. I love to chase this dream and I hope this will become a reality some time in the future. I don’t believe in the myth that all these media are producing what people wanted. I believe, any program can be marketed and reach the people, if you have proper marketing tactics. Very soon, your new IDEA/program will become the first in the list of a new channel. This is how my channel News telecast proceeds. It starts with, The Glorious Yesterday: This section lists out the Achievements we had the previous day. The achievements can be Economic, Social, Scientific, Global, Political, or any completed projects, people initiatives, etc.) The 5th Dimension: This section introduces to the viewers the new ideas, new initiatives, new themes, new projects that have been created to achieve some thing of importance to a community, state or nation. The Champions – Know about the people of success and their stories revealed of relevance to the day in this section. The HeARTs of Living – News about culture, Arts, harmony, religion …., which create a positive influence on people. Spark for the Day - One inspiring quote/idea for the day to start with for the viewers. The first one would be, “Start by doing what is necessary; then what is possible, suddenly you are doing the impossible – St Francis “ All these sections will have a comic strip in between, to keep you smiling. When you are smiling, you will be in the most resourceful state, so my messages will be listened, not just heard. From the above, the following themes for the special reports are self-evident. Special Reports: NGOs at Work: One NGO a day. What do they do, why do they do, how do they do. How can one contribute? Their success stories. Moments of Glory: The moments of success and glory from the recent past. Keep repeating this section whenever we get time. Champions of India: Successful people, organizations, communities, IDEAS. One such entity would be introduced every day. The Unsung Heros: The key people towards the success of a person or organization or community, but ignored in the past. This section brings them out to the glory. Example: Coach to a sportsperson, mentor to a businessman, Army Men etc. The Hearts of India: Culture, Religion, Traditions, and Celebrations The New Frontiers of Living: New ideas to live your life successfully, effectively and meaning fully by involving in various activities, which are creative yet meaningful and do good to the society in addition to the individual. This showcases real life examples across the world. Then, the news telecast would end with Other News in brief: (I will associate with current popular channels to give me these stories, abridged.) Political News (News about politics, parties, etc) Crime News Sports News Business News Weather Updates “Nothing is impossible to a willing mind. Awake, arise and stop not until the goal is reached.” – Swami Vivekananda
