A Greek Teacher Bestolozzy said 'Give me a child for seven years, afterwards let the God or devil take the child, they cannot change the child'. That is the power of a teacher.
The class room is a place where a country,s Future is decided. Such is the importance of the schools or Educational Institutions.
Now the question is : Is the Education system in the way how it should be? Are we giving Healthy Education to children? Is the education multi faceted? How practical oriented is the education? Are we able to make them self dependent by the time they come out of the Educational institutes?
We read in newspapers that the students are committing suicides due to exam tension. At the first place how good is this Examination system? If you ask them, most of the students will say they just studied for the sake of the exams and have forgotten what they had studied after they have written exams. And we are making them book worms who are fit for nothing after they come out of their schools. They are becoming people who cannot do anything without depending on anybody and with ill habits and ill health.
Abdul Kalam says 'When you look at small children, they are always smiling. When they start going to primary school the smile reduces. When they reach secondary school, the smile further reduces and during higher secondary cource the smile virtually vanishes'.
