Articles: Humour | Asok .. The Intern - Mr. Frank Abagnale Jr.
| |
Scott Adams, the founder of the famous comic series 'Dilbert' (characterised by marketing and technology ) finally decides to introduce an intern in his comic, to satisfy the hordes of interns who wrote to request their own character.
Of all he choses the character to be an INDIAN .. . names the
character Asok, picturises him as a brilliant guy but immensely naive about the cruelties and politics of the business world ( as he says !! ).That was just a cover ,he intentions of taking a dig at the IIT grads of INDIA is pretty clear. He picturises this IIT grad..as a alpha nerd, a bizzare geek.
Times of India says........ 'If the spoof shows up the IIT grad as a bizarre geek, it also offers a voice to the Indian takeover of the world of hi-tech professionals. Behind the portrayal of the Indian techie - the IITian – as a work maniac who has inhuman abilities to slog and thus outpace his American counterparts lies the growing negativity towards this breed on the part of Americans who feel they’re losing their jobs to more competent Indians '

But later in an interview the the cartoonist acknowledged the excellence of the school and even ascribed humility to its alumni. But at the sametime belittles saying 'I mean, when you meet guys from Harvard, they will tell you within five minutes that they graduated from Harvard. With the IIT guys, you have to ask.'
Hav a luk at the Cartoon Strip :-)
