there is a greater need for care............
Karunashraya : A cancer hospice that take cares the terminally ill cancer patients by providing palliative care for absolutely free of cost. when cancer reaches the incurable stage ,that is when treatment is over and the patient needs care and symptom control during his/her advanced stage ,the above said hospice helps to have a comfortable and peaceful life as long as they live.

what is palliative care?
Palliative care focuses on improving the quality of life for the patients and their families.Medical care is a part of palliative care .But apart from prevention and
relief of physical symptoms,Major attention is directed towards alleviating the psychological trauma of both the patients and their families there by the family can focus their attention on personal affairs........
Goals of palliative care
1. To provide relief from pain and other distressing symptoms
2. To provide care which neither hastens nor postpones the end.
3. To offer support system:
-that helps patients live as actively as possible.
-that helps the family cope during the patient's illness.
-that enhances the quality of life till the end.
Services provided by this Hospice
1.Free patient & family advisory service
If you ,or some one you know is suffering from advanced
cancer they may contact doctors & counselors ,they will review the case history and advise a course of action for patient and family.
2.Free ,In-patient Total care Facilities
There is a 50 bed hospice where In-patients are provided with total care : accommodation , nursing ,medicines and food ,
free of change.
3.Free Home care service
For patients who prefer to live with their
own families ,karunashraya's home care team
provides physical and psychological support .
Trained nurses help in dressing wounds , relieving pain, controlling nausea and other distressing symptoms.
4.Free, out patient day care centre
patients can also come in on a day care basis and return home in the evening.palliative treatment ,nursing care , medicines, food and occupational therapy are all provided for free of cost.

karunashraya welcomes everybody : patients and their family , poor and rich alike. Everybody needs help and they try to provide
it with professional concern .They are a secular organization and do not interfere in the religious beliefs and practices of the patients .The mission of the hospice is to help people suffering from extremely advanced cancer to be comfortable,
peaceful and free of pain till the last . And , when death comes ,every effort will be made that it should come without loss of dignity.

with the generous support of corporate and individual donors they are able to provide home care and in-patient care to over 6,500 patients & their families.
The annual operating costs are in the region of Rs.70lakhs.
and finally you are welcome to contribute how much ever you like towards meeting the costs. All contributions are eligible for tax exemption under the following sections of the Income Tax Act:80G(50% tax deductable) and 35AC(100% tax deductable)
