Kofta Curry

Ingredients:
 
 For Koftas::
 Bengal Gram:½ cup
 Onions:1 big (chopped)
 Salt:¼ tsp
 Oil:For frying
 
 For Gravy::
 Onions:2
 Garlic:1 flake (chopped)
 Tomatoes:¼ kg (blanched, peeled and pureed)
 Water:1½ cup
 Turmeric Powder:A pinch
 Sugar:¼ tsp (optional)
 
 For Masala::
 Onion:1 small (minced)
 Ginger:½ “ piece
 Garlic:2 flakes
 Red Chilli Powder:½ tsp
 Green Chillies:2
 Ani Seeds:¼ tsp
 Cardamoms:2
 Cinnamon:½ “ piece
 Cloves:2
 Roasted Gram:½ tbsp
 Salt:to taste
 
Preparation:
 
Koftas Preparation
 
Soak Bengal gram for 2 hours. Drain out excess water and grind it to a coarse paste adding salt. Add minced onion and mix well. Make small lemon sized balls from the dough. Heat oil in a pan and deep fry the koftas till they turn golden brown in colour. Keep them aside to cool.
 
Gravy Preparation
 
Cut onions into long thin pieces. Heat oil in a pan and fry garlic, and onions till onions turn soft brown in colour. Add ground paste and fry till the oil oozes out at the edges. Add tomato puree and fry for 5-8 minutes. Pour water and add turmeric powder, sugar and salt. Let it boil for a few minutes. Now add fried koftas in it and boil for few more minutes on a slow fire. When the gravy becomes thicker remove from fire and garnish with coriander leaves. Serve hot with rotis or rice.
