Raw Papaya Salad

Ingredients:
 
 Raw Papaya:1 small(peeled and grated)
 Red Bell Pepper:1 (cut into thin strips
 Green Chillies:3 (chopped)
 Cumin Seeds:¼ tsp
 Mustard Seeds:¼ tsp
 Split Black Gram:¼ tsp
 Asafoetida: a pinch
 Sugar (Optional):½ tsp
 Lemon Juice:1 tsp
 Coriander Leaves:1 tsp (finely chopped)
 Curry Leaves:1 twig
 Oil:1 tsp
 Salt:to taste
 
Preparation:
 
Heat oil in a frying pan, add mustard seeds, cumin seeds, black gram and asafoetida. Fry till mustard splutters.
 
Now add green chillies, curry leaves, red pepper and fry for just few seconds. Turn off fire. Pour this seasoning over the grated papaya and mix well.
 
Serve with sliced tomatoes or onions.
 
Note: Use grated carrots or beet root instead of papaya.
