Ingredients: | | | Refined Flour (Maida) | : | 2¼ cups | | Baking Soda | : | 1½ tsp | | Salt | : | ½ tsp | | Milk | : | ¾ cup | | Cocoa Powder | : | ½ cup | | Vanaspathi or Margarine | : | ½ cup | | Butter | : | ½ cup | | Eggs | : | 3 | | Curd | : | ½ cup | | Vanilla Essence | : | ½ tsp | | | For Icing: | : | | | | Icing Sugar | : | 1 cup | | Cocoa Powder | : | ¼ cup | | Salt | : | a pinch | | Water | : | 1 cup | | Sugar | : | ¼ cup | | Butter | : | ½ cup | | Vanilla Essence | : | ½ tsp | | Refined Oil | : | 1 tsp | |
| Preparation: | | Sift flour, salt and baking soda together. Take a vessel and dissolve cocoa powder in milk. Add vanaspathi, ½ cup of butter, 2 cups of powdered sugar and mix well. | | Take some water in a broad vessel and heat it over a medium flame. When it boils, place the vessel with cocoa mixture in it. Stir the cocoa mixture continuously and when it warms up, remove from fire and let it cool. | | Add the sifted flour mixture to the cocoa mixture and mix well. Break and beat the eggs and add the egg mixture with the flour mixture. Add curd and essence to the batter and mix well. | | Grease and dust a baking dish. Pour the batter into the dish. Bake in a preheated oven at 350oF for about 45-50 minutes. | | For Icing: | Sieve icing sugar, cocoa and salt together. Heat water and sugar, until sugar dissolves. Remove from fire. Add sieved ingredients into the warm sugar water. Add essence, butter and oil to the mixture and mix well. Pour this over the cake and spread it evenly uniformly. Pipe over the cake using the icing mixture as you wish. |
