This is a tasty traditional sweet,specially prepares on Sankranti
OR Pongal festival.
INGREDIENTS
Rice 100gms
Greengram(mung dal) 50gms
sugar 150gms
Milk ½ltre
cardamom
cashewnuts
raisins
First roast the daal till it gives fine aroma.
cook the rice and dal with milk.
When both are cooked add sugar and stir well, simmer.
Then add the ghee, cashewnuts, powdered cardamom.
And serve hot.
Note:-Some people likes to add fresh coconut bits also.
Variation:- Can be prepared with salt instead of sweet (sugar).
It is called as 'pongal' OR 'kattu pongal',
for spices: ginger bits, cummin seeds, cinnamon stick.
