Try this type sambar( pappupulusu)probably you may like this!!
Ingredients:-
Touar daal 1cup
Yellow split gram ½cup(mung dal)
Cabbage(chopped) 1cup
Onion 1cup (chopped legnthwise)
greenchillies 4 (chopped legnthwise)
Carrot 2long big bits
sambar masala 2-3tsp
fresh coriander ½cup
Tamarind pulp/lemon juice 1tbsp(or as per taste)
Sugar ½tsp
Ginger crush 1tsp
Tomatoes 6-8(boil inwater&squeezed)
fresh spinach leaves 5
Drycoconut grated 1tsp
Potatoes Peeled (whole)
Bootle gourd chunks 6-8 (kaddu)
Tempering:-Mustardseeds,cummin,redchillie bits(4),asafoetida(pinch),curryleaves.
METHOD:-
Pressure cook two daals after washing 2-3 times. keep aside.
Heat one tsp oil and fry all chopped vegetables except tomatoes for 3-4 minutes.
Squeeze properly& drain the tomatoes without stuff. Add the cooked daal to it,mix well.
Add tamarind/lemon according to your taste.
Add ½ly fried vegetables,add sambar powder, salt to it.
Add 3-4 cups of water and boil.
Boil it on medium heat till the aroma flavour comes from the sambar.
As soon as it boiled, make tempering with given ingredients,
and add immediately to the sambar.
sprinkle grated/scraped coconut powder&garnish with chopped coriander,serve hot withplain rice,idli,dosa,vada etc..
Variation:-everybody know that sabar is like a vegetable soup.
we can add ladyfingers,drumsticks(superflavour&tasty),Cucumber
Long beans also!
Some people like to make sambar with chenna dal also,but i prefer tour dal OR yellowgram(mungdal,mixed daals.
Note:-Adding chillies,spices,sour things are depending upon their personal taste. Here i gave normal measurements(i use normally).Please check it.
