Articles: My Thoughts | Wake up Girls! - Mrs. manjari
| |
Today’s news item has provoked me rather to write this article. It is about a lecturer harassing some student and that poor girl committed suicide in Vizianagaram district. I am away from India staying in a foreign country. But this news has moved me so much that we people should against this kind of incidents and raise our voice against such bloody rascals who try to take advantage over innocent students and girl students.
A Teacher is to be respected and he has to inculcate values in children. But if he himself is an anti social element, what good he can do for students? So, once the management comes to know the personal weaknesses or unacceptable behaviour of Lecturers or teachers, they should outright be removed from the Educational Institutions, which are supposed to be sacred and be treated like temples. We call in Telugu VIDYALAYAM. What does it mean? Does it have any meaning these days?
Here I would like to give some information to people about the practices in the foreign lands. Whether it is office or an educational institution, Teachers have to take utmost care while dealing with girl students. I also understand that when a girl student goes to learn something in college and if the teacher has to make her understand any subject with special coaching, the teacher makes it so convenient for the student that he keeps the doors of his room open, so that there is no chance of getting in trouble either for himself or for the student.
Here men are so careful even in offices that they do not misbehave with ladies, as the law is also very stringent. Anything conveyed verbally, by gesture or by indirect way, which is, offending to a woman is dealt with stringently. Though there is law sometimes, in each and every system there will be some deviations and even if the Man in question is in a senior level, if his co-workers complain against him, there will be an open meeting where it is announced that particular person is removed from service because of his misconduct. I think India has to come a long way in this respect.
