Articles: TP Features | We can do miracles - Mr. Maharshi Pragna
| |
Many Indians believe that during ancient times, India contributed more of spiritual and philosophical concepts and its contribution towards science and technology is almost negligible. But this is just a myth. In fact, India was leading even nations such as Greece in many areas of science and technology until the technological base was deliberately destroyed by the British. Herodotus (father of Greek history) wrote that the Indians were the greatest nation of the age.
Our ancestors around 2,000 or 3,000 years ago could achieve highly inconceivable inventions when there was no technology available. But today despite the wide-spread and easy availability of technology and knowledge, we are expected to achieve miracles but unfortunately that is not happening. The primary reason for this is lack of commitment, great vision and perseverance.
All the excuses that India can’t achieve great successes due to over-population, corruption and illiteracy etc are mere escapist tactics. India can’t do miracles. Only Indians can do that. If we have the willingness to do miracles, we can always do it no matter what our present conditions are.
If we, Indians do not know what a fabulously advanced and developed country we were at one time, be it in science and technology or philosophy, the propaganda that India is a backward country, always makes us believe that we have always been a backward country.
I have collected a list of India’s great inventions and contributions, in order to give an understanding for the readers about the great intellectual contributions of ancient Indians towards the world civilization.
This list is only for the purpose of knowing our great past. My intention is not to make anybody feel jingoistic and belittle any other nation’s contribution. At the same time, it is not even the time to feel proud of our past and indulge in lofty talks about India.
However great our ancestors were, today’s fact is that majority of the Indians are reeling under perennial poverty. We have to get motivated by our ancestors and their great wisdom and invent great concepts that can keep India once again at the top of the ladder and solve many unsolved problems of today’s world.
