Tourism Services Outsourcing
Despite India being one of the most ancient civilizations in the world with diverse cultures and natural resources ranging from deserts, snow mountains, fresh-water lakes, rivers, dense jungles, gigantic mountains, ever-green forests, wild-life sanctuaries and many more, India is still unable to tap the world tourism market on a large scale.
Statistics compiled by World Tourism Organization (WTO) reveal that India is no where to be seen among the list of Top 40 countries that recorded the highest growth in tourism. As per WTO’s forecast, even with the projected average annual growth of 6.2%, South Asia (including India) will still cover a meagre 1.2% market share of global inbound tourism by 2020. On the other hand, Middle East, which is mostly covered with desert will have 4.4% market share by 2020.
Lack of vision, commitment, poor infrastructure and lethargic attitude of people and the governmental agencies towards tourism are some of the most important reasons.
Many nations are in line to attract global tourists. Hence, it is increasingly becoming difficult to attract global tourists, especially the enlightened tourists and those who are looking for niche experiences. In fact, most of the nations have not yet started offering niche tourism services. Hence, wisdom-based tourism services, which offer purely niche experiences, will have huge demand in the future.
