Also the management will get feedback that this guy never say no and always helpful. Though u r not helping directly. But u can find for the source and link them both and be in the loop till it gets over as this is enough to others to come and ask u.. as u r focusing everyone to come and ask for u. U will come the star as everyone say. He is the perfect man who never say no. I'm not saying to go and ask them. What i'm saying is never say u do not know or I have no idea.. .. as everyone is not perfect, thought its difficult but not impossible.. so if u put some effort then u can easily fix it or identify it. Even I'll tell my son also. That if u say u know then u know everything, if u say u don't know then u don't know anything. So always be positive and identify and buy the time if u donot know as no one will ask immediately... u can buy the require time as this will give them feeling that ur really helpful. So, specially in official/business env, if someone approach for any information then always say.. u will check and will get back to him/her in 2-3 days time. Even after u did not make then u can buy more time and try to dig into the situation on who is the right source who can ans this. I have seen many of the I. T service tickets calls.. people will reject saying this is not for me. I really wounder working in same company how can they reject the case. When a user report any issue then a service call is raised and might have wrongly assigned to other support and other support simply rejects that case working in same company and this will show the bad image of the dept as why the ticket has rejected. To the user its just one call or case but the support has to identify who is the right person or assign the case back to right source like helpdesk.. rather than rejecting the case. This is applicable for any field.. accounts, banking, police or any... So, I trust everyone will follow that u will not say no and will do it instead of trying. There might be some circumstances that you might need to tell the fact also. So in the worst case then u can say.. you can do alternatively .. eg: If someone ask that he needs 100 ruppees as he is feeling hungry then u can offer him a cup of tea rather than saying u donot have 100 ruppees.. so there are many ways.. u can offer alternative rather than saying u cannot do this. you should always tell what you can do.. as people are always interested what is possible and u can do it.
