21) Etiakalanga...
Milk vessels fill and over flowwith milk,
from the uneasing flow of the many big and generous cows,
whose owner's son , thou art, wake up,
eager, eminent , manifested light wake up,
like the enemies defeated helplessly surrender
at thy feet we have come to worship
nd praise thee, oh,,Pavai..!!
22) Anganma gnalath..
Like the rulers of the beautiful and big kingdom
suppressing their self conceit, stand near your cot
in large numbers, we have neared you, thy rosy-lotus eyes,
will thee not open like the 'Kin-Kin' on us,
like the rise of the Sun and moon look with thy two eyes
at us to rid us of our sins oh..Pavai..!
23) Marimalai...
Like the brave lion sleeping in the mountain cave,
in the rainy season wakes up, open his sparkling eyes,
shakes his frame in all directions,
his odorous manes rising,
ridding his laziness, roaring comes out, Lord,
with the complexion of Pouvai flowers comes out
thy mansion and from the beautiful pre-eminent throne
enquire us of the purpose of our visit
and give us thy grace, oh..pavai..!!
24)Anrivulaka malandia...
Hail thy feet tht measured these world the,
hail thy prowess in the destruction of Southern Lanka,
hail thy frame in kicking Sakatasura,
hail thy feet that threw the wicked calfas a stick,
hail thy mercy that held the govardhanagiri as an umbrella,
hail thy spear in thy hand that conquers enemies and kills hatred,
ever we praise thy valour and frame, to obtain the drum
we have come now be benevolent, oh..Pavai.!!
25)Oruthi maganai...
Born as son of one, the same night thou became the son
of another and grew in hiding , envious and evil designed Kamsan's intents frustrating, thou were like fire
in Kamasan's stomach , Lord, begging of thee,
we have come , if our desire is granted singing
of thy riches and valour , rid of our sorrows,
we will rejoicr oh..Pavai..!!
26) Male...
Lord of devotees, Manivanna, for the Margazhi bath
in the way of ancestors , if you ask us our needs,
we ask conches like the lumllious and white panchajanyam,
big drums , reciters of benedictary hymns,
auspicious lamps, flags and canopies, you, lying on the
banyan-leaf, grant oh..Pavai..!!
27)Koodaru...
Govinda, the subduer of thy enemies,
singing of thee after the drum, the reward
we get as the world will praise, wearing bangles,
armlets ear-lobes, upper ear-lobes, ankles
and other jewels and lovely robes eating rice
with milk and ghee, flowing down the elbow,
beone with thee we rejoice, oh.. Pavai..!!
28) Karavaikal...
going to the forests behind the cows,
we eat inour ignorant cow-herds caste,
we had the good fortune to have thee,
cannot be removed by thee or us,
being young and out of love,
we called thee in singular,
without getting offended,
grant us our desires oh..Pavai..!!
29) Chitrajchirukale..
In the early hours of the morning,
prostrating before thee here
singing at thy lotus feet,
do thee ask us our desires,
born in the cow-herder's caste,
thou should not refuse us,
not for this day alone, but for ever,
and for seven-fold births we shall be related to thee,
we shall serve only thee,
remove all other desires from us oh..Pavai..!!
30) Vangakadal...
The churner of the ship filled ocean, Madavan,
Kesavan, the beautiful ornamented gopikas worshipped and
the story of reward obtained there by distilled
in the Tamil garland of thirty poems , of the lotus
wreathed Periyalvar's Goda when recited in chorus without break,
in this beautiful Srivilliputtur, the four shouldered,
red-eyed, beautiful and rich god's grace and bliss
will fill every where, oh..pavai..!!
NOte:- Pavai means..'Nonbu' i.e. rites performed for a vow. Time is wealth of Sri.. Every song ends with the word Pavai. Literall the word means 'girl' but the commentators have contented themselves by stating that a meaning need not be read into it; that it is a word to give rhyme to the verses and it belongs to the species of 'Pavai pattus' widely prevalent in Tamil country in those olden days..
