Swami is our Mother, Father, Friend, Guide and Philosopher. He is a mother when he showers selfless Love on His children and absolves our mistakes. He is a stern father when he corrects our mistakes until rectified. He is a true friend in times of need and advice. He is a guide who leads us on the right path from illusion to illumination. He is a philosopher as He inspires us with simple yet profound lessons of life, prodding us to look within our own selves.
No concept of time with God
When I was in the Anantapur hostel, one morning I hung my watch to the bolt of the bathroom door. After my bath I forgot about the watch and opened the door and the watch fell down and the glass broke. I felt bad and questioned Swami as to what lesson He wanted me to learn. I thought so much but couldn’t get to any conclusion other than being careful about things which is nothing special. I always had the habit of pondering on any negative incident that happens in my life, be it big or small. I opened one of the devotees’ books on Swami and the page I saw, read as follows.
“A few days before leaving Puttaparthi, I had hung my watch on a nail of the bathroom door. I took my bath and came out of the bathroom. The watch fell without warning from the nail onto the stone floor. Of course it stopped working. I shook it and started working again but gained so much time that it was useless to wear it. I tugged it away and did without a watch for the last few days. I understood this as a sign from Swami telling me that I should not live so much in time. Time is man made. With God there is no time.”
How wonderfully and directly Swami made me learn the lesson not to let time control me. Dear Swami, I owe all my experiences to you. Without you I cannot realize any experience or the lesson behind it. Without the lesson, I do not grow higher and higher. Without growing further and farther this human life has no meaning. You gave a meaning to this empty world of mine.
At this moment I ask you divine Lord, “Please forgive our great mistakes, smallest sins, wrong thoughts, bad talk or deeds. We still remain innocent in your divine shadow. Each and every tree, brick, stone and even the mud in that Campus is divine for, it is yours and it is filled with your name and form. This Institute is still a place of divine memory in our lives. Thank you for the opportunity you gave us to land in this sacred place. This is the place where we learnt the purpose of life, where we learnt real purpose of education, where we learnt to modify our behavior to our best. This is the place of spirituality where we learnt the greatest philosophy of life. This is the place where we learnt to give respect to parents, elders and love the youngsters. How can we students ever show our gratitude to the one who let us learn all the above in just one human Life? Let us offer our lives to you divine Lord.
