Parents want their children to become Engineers, Doctors or foreign degree holders, but not a good human being who will be a real asset to the society or to the humanity. Once I heard a father patting his son and saying to others in public “My son will become a good lawyer, why you know, he can tell lies and you will never notice that he is lying”. I was surprised. Ours is the country where Satya Harischandra’s story is told to kids to emphasise on truth. Now people who are straight forward or truthful are considered to be unwise.
If we switch on Indian TV news channels, definitely the news is about murders, criminals and other atrocities. Nothing good to hear these days. Some TV channels are showing very annoying stuff which is definitely a negative pill for the younger generation. People who did not really know what goes on west, are taking only wrong things. Here we find people working hard from childhood and being independent and living a life of self-esteem.
There are many children who strive hard to come up in life. They earn their fee and pay and study and make their lives. Take good things from western society and not just imitating certain portions where it is convenient.
Here, it is not the mistake of younger generation. It is parents who are inculcating wrong values. If Mum and Dad tell lies all the time and do wrong things to earn money, how can you expect children to take to the right or righteous path?
We boast about our family lives and our attachments and love and what not. Then why a daughter is murdered or why a wife commits suicide or why old parents die in Ashrams if our culture is so good? Is it not double standards.
There are definitely good people and still good is prevailing in some societies in India. Some tradition is followed and parents and joint families live with harmony. But they are becoming handful and that is my concern here.
If we analyse why a sister works against a brother’s family for her own selfish needs? It is jealousy and hatred towards her own kith and kin and it makes her think or work in a crooked way. Here, she does not realise that by inflicting pain on her own people, she too will not be happy ultimately. It will be a temporary phase for her. But the wound inflicted can not be healed so easily.
