Articles: TP Features | Policy or Posture? - Mr. Sreenivas YL

They wanted to do something desperate to shroud the illusion of the people about their uncompromising attitude on certain issues. They have been waiting for an opportunity to once again enact a drama which has come in the form of the visit of George Bush. The present hysteria and frenzy that they would like to unleash is mere false posturing.
The people know that the present government which is headed by Dr. Manmohan Singh is a government supported by the left parties and in fact, the government exists at the mercy of them. And the government supported by the left parties is playing the host. The left parties are very clear the visit will not stop. Therefore, what all they want to do is to use this occasion to try to fool the people that they are really against Bush. The present opposition in fact showcases their own hypocrisy and power hunger.
I am not trying to suggest that the parties do not have a right to protest. Right to protest is one aspect and the sloganeering of go back is another. We have a right to express our opinion on an issue but our opposition on a particular issue should not snap relations. Is India prepared today to completely snap all kinds of ties with US? We want American jobs for our children; we want American companies coming to India. We want American companies to continue outsourcing so the call centers thrive in India but we say ‘Go Back Bush’. It is time we must come out of this politics of posturing. Let us have a dialogue on all issues with Mr. Bush and let us also make it unambiguous that we do not approve of the war policies of the US. We should not forget that India as a nation has always invited people and never rejected any one how so ever villainous he may be.
