The penance and self-sacrificing tactics of Bhasmasura, the act where Bhasmasura indulges in a dance duel with Mohini, the dances of Vishnu and Lakshmi blew the audience away. All of the artists portrayed their respective roles with finesse and sophistication – a testament to their passion and dedication to the Kuchipudi dance tradition – the dance all Telugu people should be proud of, and commensurate with this fine portrayal, the troupe received a standing ovation from the audience.
This program, an instance of grandeur of Indian culture and a magnum opus of GITA this year, was a memorable experience to all those who were present. It was enthusiastically supported and sponsored by several local businesses owned by Indians. The GITA executive committee members have done a phenomenal job in planning, organizing and executing the event and deserve applause and credit for the grand success of this Deepavali event.
