The statistics posted by Mr. Suresh may not be true. Why because most of the states( like GUJARAT, KERALA, etc) use " HUNDI" system to send money to INDIA but not through banks / money exchange centers.

Ultimately what matters at the end of the day is whther u r happy with ur life....whether u have had ur meal for the day and whether ur mind and heart are feeling good enough,,,, The lifestyle for Indians is also no great...We have seen and are seeing so many employed people sacrificing so many things in daily life in the interest of their dependents.

I just got this from a Yahoo Group called MyRupee. ======================================= This reveals a very interesting angle. But this is fact. I can tell this from my very close friends experience. ======================================= We are very glad to announce the result of a survey conducted online directly among middle income NRIs living in the Gulf countries. We take this opportunity to convey our gratitude to all the participants, supporters and media who wholeheartedly supported us for the success of the survey. The survey focussed on middle income NRIs to study the income profile, family status, frequency of remittance, saving and spending habits of NRIs and their dependents, resettlement prospects, etc. The following are the results: 1 Total number of participants: 10100 2 Age group up to 30 years: 3081 31 to 40 4857 41 to 50 1345 51 and above 817 3 Marital Status: Married 80% (8081) 4 Living with family in abroad 10% (1010) 5 Income Category: Non disclosers of income 26% (2626) Dh 1501 to 2500 13% (1306) 2501 to 3500 30% (3007) 3501 to 4500 16% (1608) 4501 and above 15% (1553) 6 Saving Habits Remitting money every month 31% Remitting money every two months 24% Remitting money every three months 11% No savings at all 34% 7 Saving from the income 23% 8 Family saving form the remittance 2% 9 Family status Family’s life improved after a member goes abroad 98% Those who can maintain comfortable lifestyle in the event of returning to India - 5% Most important observation of the survey is, the middle income NRIs in the Gulf sacrifice even basic necessities leading a life of deprivation for their families back home. They work hard in extreme climates, saving and remitting maximum possible funds to give a good life to their families. Only two percent of the families are saving from the remittance. Even though 98% had agreed that the lifestyle of their families had improved, only 5% felt they could lead a comfortable life if they go back for permanent settlement in India. These findings highlights the need to change NRIs' attitude to money management. NRIs must control our expenditure and save more. They should also take their family into confidence about the difficult life in the Gulf and make them aware of the urgent need to control their expenditure and to invest wisely from the money remitted from abroad. NRIs must save and convert that saving into profitable investments.

I live in London and I would say that people spend around £1500 - £2000 per month on average to cover all their "lifestyle" costs.

All over the world , their life style is acc to their income as well as their country style. With out money you cant live with style. even the basic facilities are denied for some citizens of India, every one might have read in news papers. If you want to talk about the same infact you can submit Ph.d thesis at any abroad university. Basically lifestyle is depends on persons personnel income as well as interest. Even one who interested through out the year can tour ofcourse cost of their own money. Now everyone is going to abroad and earn lot of money so they can spend monthly even 10,000$ too!!!! Now one who works in iv th closs job also earn per month 8,000 thats what govt says and also no one gets 400 rs per month. even daily labours one who works in field you have to give rs 100 as well as tea. So these are............
