Year was 2002. I was in my final year Engineering. I used to be one of those rough dudes in the college. One day my friends came to me and told that 2nd year ECE girl was being harassed by some guys every day on the way to college. So we went and spoke to her. She looked descent and I assured I'm going to take care of that and we did. Next day she gave us a Thank You Card. After that she started talking to us whenever she saw us. Day after day I was getting attracted to her. I noticed that she was not really interested in talking to me, but was very close with my friends. I was the better looking guy in the group and only reason I can think of is I come from a middle class family and come in a bus. Most of my friends either come in cars or bikes. But I was the one who took all the heat on the road helping her. Anyway I started liking her more and more and she was not at all interested in me. She used to give all kinds of greeting cards and notes to my friends, but never gave me anything. Months passed by and one day my friends were congratulating me for getting I-20 from Univ of Massachessets. She was surprised hearing the news that I'm going to US for pursuing Masters. After that she started talking to me real nice and one day she gave me a love card. That really broke my heart. I knew she started liking me only after knowing that I'm going to US. I didn't care for her anymore. After that I came to US and she tried to contact me several times over email and I cut her off. She is married to some guy in Hyd now. Even today sometimes I wonder if I made a bad decision. Somehow it bugged me always that she did not love me for what I was, but loved me after coming to know that I'm going to US.
