General Forum: Life in USA | Expired Indian Commodities in US | |
| still *wondering, weeping and wandering*
and of course, choicelessly consuming the 'expired' desi food...
Posted by: FLOCCINAUCINIHILIPILIFICATION At: 21, Nov 2006 5:21:53 AM IST Isnt it sad to realize that we have this kind of lifestyle in US, contrary to what people back home might be thinking about us? This is just for starters about our lifestyle!
How about the nutrition information and allergy warnings? Do we see them on any of these? Shouldnt they(food) be carrying this basic information? What if an American buys something, eats it and gets effected/infected? Can he/she sue the owner?
Have our Indian vendors(cant even call em businessmen) stooped so low to sell expired foods to fellow-desis? Arent they the pride of our Indian export boastings!!!
*wonders, weeps and wanders*

Posted by: Mr. M Kumar N At: 11, Jul 2005 2:12:12 PM IST Don't believe Janaki ram. Atlanta Climate is horrible, lot of allergens in the air. I would prefer Seattle any time over Atlanta. Coming back to the topic, yes most of the Indian stores in US sell stale foods, especially sweets. I remember in '99 my wife was pregnant with my first daughter and was craving for sweets. So we went to this big classy Indian shop(thinking that small shops sell stale ones) and bought mixed sweets. Came home she took a bite and told me that were smelling odd. She swallowed the bite versus spitting out, no wonder my first daughter acts weird once in a while :) *j/k*

I think the inner meaning may be like this
Best before so and so date
Better if u do not use
Worst if u still use
Posted by: Mr. VIRABHADRA SASTRI KALANADHABHATTA At: 10, Jul 2005 6:40:55 PM IST We probably have date of manufacturing and date of expiry, which is clear. Most of the MNC products say best before so & so date. What does it mean? We can still use after the date? As it does not say expiry date? This is vague.
Posted by: DoBoy At: 10, Jul 2005 1:35:04 PM IST move to atlanta movement ah ...mm...
