Posted by: పూలవాన At: 27, Jul 2005 6:04:37 PM IST Please do not misunderstand my question.
It was not asked with any ulterior motive.
The question is - Is he using his religious tag for any bad purpose? There is some smoke. Then, was there any real fire behind it?
One more thing I want to get clarified is -
If he really belongs to any religion other than Hinduism, as a prominent person he is supposed to declare that he respects Hinduism ( though he belongs to some other religion), by way of filling a format to that effect, especially whenever he has a darsanam in temples like Bhadrachalam Sri Rama temple (where he has represented the State Government).
I recollect there was a similar problem for Mr. Jaffar Sharif, the then Railway minister, who visited the Tirumala temple once, in spite of giving a similar declaration. When he was later questioned by his religious leaders, he tried to avoid that situation, but he could not avoid that embarrassment, as the temple authorities of Tirumala declared that he gave such a declaration.
In this country, any body can follow any religion. They can convert to some other
religion by their free will at any point of time, perhaps any number of times.
Only thing the people expect from these politicians is that they have to be fair to their religion as well as to the other religions.
