Every body says do this and that years together nothing moves in right dirction. Political and scentific community have their own politics to enjoy, few persons in every field like Dr.Swaminathan are silent spectators like mass population. Lots and lots of awareness is needed to make the farmers aware of the importance of their unity and also realise that no body is in a position to help them except themselves.

The following article refers to Dr. M S Swaminathan’s comments about seeking a suitable mechanism to integrate farming with the modern technology.
Everyday, we read news about farmers not getting right price for their yield and committing suicide. We have to think what needs to be done. We can live without IT and other high tech stuff. But, without farm-yield we all will die for sure! Let’s respect farmer and in future I would rather prefer to see an educated Farmer in the city gentlemen get-up for social gatherings and yet in soiled cloths in the Farm. This is already a case in developed countries, however, the farming scale in India will ultimately force to be a need and passion based! Bio-Diesel and Nano-fluids may be nice to think for a fashion talk but cooking oil is the immediate need!!
Modern farming machinery may not be lucrative for small scale Indian farming, whereas there should a good agricultural plan so that farmers produce never go waste in to gutters. For example, a truck load of Tomatoes should not bother the Farmer, because the price is low. Those Tomatoes can be stored in the value added form as canning, Ketchup, or nice and delicious Tomatoe-Pickle and should be sold from door to door and get money to pay back the loan. If I am the tomatoe-farmer (eenadu recent news, January 2007) I would never die but sell my pickle in the City to pay back the loan. What the heck VDO’s and the entire agricultural department is doing? Hope they can open eyes at least now!!
Dr. M S Swaminathan should become the President of India after Dr. Kalam is done.
