Your lipstick 'can give you breast cancer' London (PTI): With the twist of a stick and a couple of strokes, lipstick can transform your face from blah to bright in seconds. But ladies, give a second thought before lining your lips -- it can raise the risk of breast cancer. Researchers have carried out a study and found that the chemicals in lipsticks actually interfere with the healthy development of breast tissue leading to the cancer, the 'Daily Mail' reported on Thursday. "We are the first to report that neonatal or prepubertal exposure to butyl benzyl phthalate (BBP) induced modifications in the gene expression of the mammary tissue. "BBP is in the environment, so a constant exposure via inhalation and digestive tract can reach many different organs including the breast," lead researcher Dr Jose Russo of the Fox Chase Cancer Centre in America was quoted as saying. BBP, the man-made substance, is part of the phthalate family of chemicals which mimic female sex hormone oestrogen. In fact, the researchers came to the conclusion after analysing the effects of BBP found in lipsticks on rodents. The team fed lactating rats with BBP, which was then absorbed by their offspring via breast milk. Subsequently, the baby rats were exposed to levels of the chemical. They found that the chemical altered the genetic make-up of cells in the young female rat's mammary glands. Although the effects wore off once BBP was removed from the diet, the subtle changes could have an effect later in life. "In this study, we found how the action of this compound present in everyday life affects the development of the rats. This is an indication that the same could happen in humans. Even if an individual is exposed to it in the beginning of life, BBP can cause alterations later in life. "In this direction, we are evaluating if the exposure of this compound in young girls is associated with early puberty and breast development," Dr Russo said.

YSR panel nails Naidu for ‘bungling’ TIMES NEWS NETWORK Hyderabad: The micro-irrigation project that former Andhra Pradesh CM Chandrababu Naidu launched in his constituency Kuppam, in Chittoor district, has been rubbished by the Y Rajasekhara Reddy government-appointed THG Chalapathi commission, which has indicted the former CM for bungling. However, the TDP was quick to react and on Thursday termed as ‘‘politically motivated’ the leakage of the Chalapathi panel report, with party leader Janardhan Reddy saying YSR was trying to divert attention from the flak he was receiving for failure to ensure Rs 1,000 minimum support price for paddy. Reacting to reports that the commission had found fault with Naidu and Ashok Gajapati Raju, a former minister in TDP cabinet, as also some officials in the former CM’s office for having chosen the wrong technology, Reddy said the report was submitted to the government about a month ago but it hadn’t come out with the action taken report. ‘‘Since the CM was to visit Kuppam on Thursday, the report was leaked by Congress leaders on Wednesday. Extracts of the report were also published in a magazine by Congress MP U Arun Kumar,’’ he alleged. Terming the micro-irrigation project as a good experiment, other TDP sources said it was appreciated even by the central government led by Congress. Kuppam has a population of 3,20,000 living under extreme poverty, hunger and drought conditions. After Naidu was elected from here in 1994, he called an Israeli agricultural firm to implement the project. The demo project covered 162 farmers who were introduced to water management techniques. The physical yield of crop increased by as much as 80% after the project. Farmers were hired as day labour and earned Rs 60-80 per day. About 25,000 acres was covered under the demo project and the same technology was adopted by Gujarat, Assam, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu.

CBN is a shameless fellow. He will not quit politics. By hook or crook he will try to garner power through back door.

The present political strategy in AP indicates that CBN is so confident about the coming elections. What if they loose? I think he will quit or he will become more dectator to the ruling party rather than people intrest or respect to constitution.
