Not sure about details but I know old people(better call them senior citizens) and minor children can be escorted to the gate. I am sure its difficult, its just that it doest happen every day.
Like I said before, its just a co-player's opinion and I am no captain sheptain here, 'tis just the pirates thingy! :P

One more thing Captain. Last time when my wife and Kid has to travel to India without me, I found this very helpful, otherwise imagine how hard it would have been with Baby Stroller, Hand luggage and the Infant.

Infact I mentioned this point keeping in mind that some of us don't know we have this kind of facility, until a friend of mine told me. I know people finding it hard when they send their parents alone. But I don't think this is a small feature. But whatever Captain says is final ;)

Big picture CC, not small features. I mean, look at how it affects your day-today living, not some rare occasions.
For the same point, try to come up with something better on the ariport/travel facilities that are not available in India.
