adi ardham kaaledaa????
Posted by: Raj Sekhar At: 30, Jan 2004 5:42:15 PM IST case(1):
group A group B group C
1 5 9
2 6 10
3 7 11
4 8 12
weighing 1: first weigh group A and group B suppose that they are equal,
means that the odd coin is in group c.,(obviously group A and group B
coins are all of same weight hence good coins)
weighing 2:
group A group B
1 5
2 9
3 10
4 11
now weigh group A and group B if again there is no imbalance.,means that
the odd coin is 12.ok., else if there is imbalance if group A ) group B.,
the odd coin is light weight and is in 9,10,11 and we can find out easily
using third weighing(bcoz we know the odd coin is heavy or light) and
similary the case if groug A ( group B.
case 2:
group A group B group C
1 5 9
2 6 10
3 7 11
4 8 12
weighing 1: in this case suppose that group A ) group B ., so group c has
good coins( 9 ,10,11 ,12).
weighing 2:
group A group B
1 4
2 9
3 10
5 11
xchange 4,5 coins and weigh this., if this weighing also gives
group A ) group B.,from this we infer that 6,7,8 are good coins ., and
also with the xchange of 4 and 5 there is no change in the imbalance .,
and hence 4 and 5 also good coins., since group A ) group B the odd coin
will be in 1,2,3 and is of light weight.,
if group group A ( group B that means with the xchange of 4 and 5 there
is change in the direction of imbalance hence odd coin will be in 4,5 and
we can find using third weighing ( compare with a good coin)
if group A =group B that means the odd coin will be in 6,7,8 and is of
light weight ( from 1st weighing) and we can find out the odd coin using
third weighing .,ok
idi srinivas garu ichhcina solution.
