You are right KVS. The word "capitalism" is undoubtedly mis-interpreted in India(I don't know about USSR, so no comments). Rather, I can say, it was intentionally mis-interpreted by those pseudo communists. They know the meaning, but they give wrong definition to un-educated people. I earn money, donate to poor (who doesn't want to work hard to earn for him) is stupidity. If I share my hard-earned money with effortless people, why should I work hard to feed them? I too can beg like him! "dopidee", 1st point is 100% acceptable by any one, except those "dopidi daarulu". I asked one thing some time back here, to the naxal supporters, especially Swapna CCCP, to open my eyes by saying ONE GOOD CONSTRUCTIVE DEED that naxals did in India. pch, no use. Shall I confirm that there is no such evidence with Swapna? May be! Instead of blasting telephone exchanges or setting fire to buses, which is public property, they can make those tribals to sell their goods at good rate in towns. If some one try to loot them there, then these naxals can show their guns at them! They can open a school and get a teacher and educate the poor villagers. Similarly, medical aid. Some one refuses, show the gun. But in reality, what are they doing? No costructive work. The talks b/w AP govt & naxals is for one reason. Remember the attack on Chandrababu Naidu? These cong. politicians don't want to invite such trouble. So, pat on these naxals' back and be safe. Govts cannot solve this naxal issue at any cost. Only partial eradication is possible. So, just be friendly with them, by saying "we won't kill you, you don't kiss us" - meaning "live and let live". Simple. I can't stop by giving an example. In our apartment complex in Hell(so called chennai), we have an old sweeper. She's almost 70 yrs old. She sweeps entire premises, steps, bring water pots from ground floor to 2nd floor, rests in the apt during day. And thats how she earns. She never asks "give me 10 rs for tea please". We ourselves give money to her for festives. She's earning for herself even at 70s. So, I won't buy the words "Show me work". Work is there. One needs to go and find out for work. Work won't come to people. There are so many works in India. If some one sit back at their house and look for work coming in, it is absurd. I'm sorry for those people. And I pity the educated people supporting those lazy bones.

Swapna, BB, You guys have got good points. As far as I know, the naxalism is to prevent "dopidee", which means: 1. To eradicate the bad practices of those rich land lords who take 30rs interest for 100rs from the poor farmers and eventually grab the small land of the farmers. Definitely not: 2. The rich people to give away their money & property to the poor. If Swapna or anybody else think that the Rule #2 is correct, then the world is dead. Then, there is no point in hard work Swapna. Destructive thinking is stone age. Modern thinking is constructive. If you are really committed for your people, please try to educate one small tribal village. Try to make them productive, in whatever way you can. Believe me, I have seen both the worlds, the Communists and the Americans. I learned Russian language. Now I am in USA. Capitalism is wrongly interpreted in India/in USSR (CCCP, which should be pronounced as "S-S-S-Er" - expands into - Sayuz Saviyetskikh Satstiyalisticheskhik Respublik) or any other communist/socialist country. Tell me one reason, why in USA, no body is dying of hunger? Everybody in this country is living more safer, secure and comfortable than most of the rich people in India, though this is a capitalistic country. Capitalist thinks in much broader perspective. "Feeding poor" is not donation or giving away in capitalism, that is treated as "investment". to be continued...

Swapna, What exactly you mean by "I do think they are going in the right direction"? Killing the bad guys and some times accidentally killing innocents? Destroying the public property like buses, telephone exchanges? What exactly you people(naxalites and supporters) want from the society? Do you guys want to eradicate the bad practices of those rich land lords who take 30rs interest for 100rs from the poor farmers and eventually grab the small land of the farmers? Do you want the rich people to give away their money & property to the poor and be one of them?

KVS, What alternate solution do we have other than a class war? are the rich ready to give their wealth one night realizing how mean they are? /*Naxalite movement exists for more than 30 years (I am not very sure). The power of the government (including police) has multiplied since then. Most of the intellectuals, students of the engineering and medical colleges, and upper caste people who used to support the movement left already. */ Naxalites do have support from those people or else how will the movement survive so long and inspite of its setbacks due to encounters and police oppression, it emerged stronger. I do think they are going in the right direction. /*The rich-poor problem can never be resolved by armed power. Whether it's Naxalites in Andhra or USA's bombings in Iraq. They cannot change people's mindsets*/ What has USA bombing in iraq to do with naxalites /*I am sure, all of them are ready to support if Naxalites come up with a political party or a social group which can work on the real problems of the society. */ Isnt this what the CPIM did? It left armed movement long ago to form a political party and contest in election. It did a few good deeds but havent eliminated the evils of our society. I think naxalism is the only fastest way for social justice

Swapna garu, One more posting... I really appreciate you for your strong support and stand towards naxalites. I can see your commitment towards the society. My humble request to you is - to see if you can think of an alternative solution. Naxalite movement exists for more than 30 years (I am not very sure). The power of the government (including police) has multiplied since then. Most of the intellectuals, students of the engineering and medical colleges, and upper caste people who used to support the movement left already. Just think whether the naxalism is going in the right direction? Please don't mis-understand the people who are opposing the naxalism, as opposers of people who are poor and in need.

Hello Swapna garu, Days are changed a lot since Naxalite movement started. I personally know that many many left, pro-Naxal movement people are currently settled in USA. I am not going to blame them at all. I am just giving an example for the change. I am sure, all of them are ready to support if Naxalites come up with a political party or a social group which can work on the real problems of the society. We are seeing how much support Loksatta is getting today. Then why not an organisation working for the people who are in need? In my personal opinion, we all must change ourselves to the chaning time and environment - of course, progressively. For me this whole discussion looks like a tug of war situation - people are not thinking on the other side. The rich-poor problem can never be resolved by armed power. Whether it's Naxalites in Andhra or USA's bombings in Iraq. They cannot change people's mindsets.

Saleem, Here is some more information on the naxalites from frontline The naxalites' demands Here is a set of demands of the People's War (P.W.), listed under 10 categories. I. A democratic atmosphere should be created in the State. The government should respect people's right to fight for their democratic demands. The government should not prevent agitations, peaceful demonstrations and meetings. Lift the ban on the Communist Party of India (Marxist-Leninist) P.W. and other organisations. Scrap the system of rewards on workers of P.W., People's Guerilla Army and other mass organisations. Scrap Grey Hounds, Special Security Forces, and the Special Intelligence Branch (SIB) and withdraw the Central paramilitary forces. Release all political prisoners. Scrap the system of giving acceleratory promotions and unofficial incentives to police officers who kill naxalites in fake encounters. Scrap the informant network in villages. The government should end the practice of winning over P.W. workers and using them as covert agents. Control `lumpen' gangs such as Green Tigers, Kranti Sena, Palnadu Tigers, Tirumala Tigers and Nayeem Gang. Order a judicial probe into all fake encounters and punish the police officers responsible. Lift all cases registered against workers of mass organisations and other revolutionary parties. II. Implement reforms in the agricultural sector. Implement land reforms. Handover to the occupants the endowment, government, and forest land and lands belonging to landlords already occupied by people. Implement the Land Ceiling Act. Stocklot, 1) I dont respect our constitution or the bourgeois state which wrote it.It is written to protect the property rights of the rich I am for a democracy but a people's democracy where everyone can eat.. not a parliamentary democracy. 2) you should search the meaning of proletariat.. all working class comes under proleteriat.. what u are doing it calling all workers terrorists. 3) Russian revolution is based on opposition to fuedalism. India is a fuedal society too. Russia had a democracy inspite of the Tsar. From deng's time China stopped being a communist state.

The present Govt. and the Naxals come into confidence. A good step taken by Congress(I) govt. featuring long term plans with the coming elections to combat TDP and it's alliance BJP. This will reduce Govt; overheads that spend to control Naxals & teir activities. If you compare the losses that were attributed either due to oppositions and or ruling party is more compared with the Naxals . Questions Remain Answered?????? 1.In the present situation any soceity is in need of new political party? Unless they do not survive??? 2. Naxals understand that their target is changed? 3. Intrernational politics which they are talking really capable in doing so???? 4. Where illiteracy levels are high how the party cadre do understand their "PANDHA" ? 5. This new party will be safe enough with out any encounters from the fundamentalists?// That is the reason they still have gureilla people around them to identify the attackers. 6. Ultimately it is a heroism what people are expecting from them... Beyond law and order. Ex; Annalara save the farmers from the culprits doing adultery business. No party is working for the real problems. A good understanding between the groups / parties cements ties for ruling the state in future. In reality the problems remain same. Mr. Manmohan Singh is 100% correct. There is no justice for a common man. If you loose money you are responsible. No party no act no law can help poor man in INDIA. It proves once again you have to be in one of the political tents to exercise your rights.
