The 6BC thing reminds me of a puzzle I came across, a few years back -
The retired army man showed me a medal he received after the first world war, for his efforts, and it said "In appreciation of your contribution for the nation in World War I and blahblah" ... and immeditaly I said "MAAAN, you are fake!", how did I know? :))

If its a normal mechanical clock then if he sets the alarm for 9, it would go trrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrring even before he starts watching the 9'0 clock news :))
