| Anupama venkatgaaru! while i agree with u on your point of view ,let us hope that people reralise the fact that everything depends up on our initiative and effort besides God's grace which is always there but only we are ignorant of Him and the result is the present chaose and confusion about anything that is immaterial but very important and unknown ,looking at it with suspicion!

I opened the topic with that comment but nowhere i mentioned about satsangham is a religious practise. Ipointed out that since the religion has failed to fulfill the present day needs people lost interest in religious ritualls that assured salvation and finally i said that for that reason only we can get that needed change if we adopt satsangam as a means to achieve our objective !

satsangham is not a religious practise in the first place. It is a physical ,mental and emotional meeting of like minded individuals who want develop themselves towards perfect personality!

There is always the generation gap between the different agegroups due to lack of proper understanding and grooming from the childhood, but due to blind following without clear understanding it becomes only a ritual for the sake of it only and thus lose interest .My point of argument is as the human mind develops and civilization progresses the age old practises lose their relevence and thus later generations do not follow them.So the religion should be able to guide all agegroups irrespective of their socio economic back ground so that they behave in right way and move in right path!

Dyvaadhinam gaaru,
As you mentioned the ritualls and beliefs are for those who believe in it and these are required to keep the individual on right path, while I agree with you about the purpose , i feel that the relevence of these rituals and beliefs has lost by passage of time and thinking pattern of the present day society and as such they have been treated as unnecessary . The main objective , that is right way of living can not be induced by folowing these formalities in these days.That is why people are searching for new ways and means to get that interenal peace and calmness by diverting towards unhealthy practises like smoking,drinking etc and thus spoiling themselves and effecting others.
That is why i said that religion ends when realisation comes and realisation can not be obtained by these religious practises.Now our problem is how to get realisation which ensures that calmness and peace?I said that by contemplation on divine sourse through constant practise of meditation as prescribed by our elders in the past.

there is a saying that under adverse situation to save a righteous person/act one need to bluff to escape from that eventuality, and all is fair in love and war why do u think that these sayings count even todays situation?Abitter pill or a surgery is needed to free the body from disease to save it from suffering and eventual death, and even in homoeopathic treatmennt they induce a disease of higher order in the system to cure the disease of lower order . that is the nature's way of preserving the good and distroying the evil.
pl.refer my example quoted by you too , what i mean to say is we need not be carried away by other's impressions and actions but we do our duty in the way that it do not effect others adversely and without minding about the thoughts and actions of others which may adversely effect.
