try this:
two of A,B and C are fighting with each other
[1] the shorter of A and B is the older of two fighters
[2]the younger of B and C is the shorter of two fighters
[3]the taller of A and C is the younger of two fighters
who is not fighting?
ans :C is not fighting
proof:
case.1 :let A is not fighting.
let us denote age of A,B,C by 1,2,3
and ht by a,b,c.
using[1] a)b and 2)3.
using[2] b)c(as 2)3),so a)b)c.
using[3] a)c,so A is fighter (wrong).
case.2 :let B is not fighting.
let us denote age of A,B,C by 1,2,3
and ht by a,b,c.
using[1] a(b and 1)3.
using[2] a)c as 2(3
using[3] a)c,so 1(3 which is again false.
now we can say C is not fighting,but lets analyze it.
case.3 :let C is not fighting.
let us denote age of A,B,C by 1,2,3
and ht by a,b,c.
using[1] we have 2 cases again
case 3a:
a)b,1(2
using[2] 2(3
using[3] a)c.
so 1(2(3 and a)b and a)c ie., a)b)c/a)b(c
case 3b:
a(b,1)2
using[2] 2(3,so b(a which is false.
FINAL SOLN.
C is not fighting.
