Born leaders will not urge for recognition. It comes automatically. There are several born leaders.
1. Mahatma gandhi
2. Subash chandrabose
3. Chandrasekhar Azad
4. Bhagat singh
5. Motilal nehru
6. lala lajapathi rai

the list is never ending........ We can say all of them as great persons. But we can call some one as mahatma who finishes his task to the destiny. Gandhi has done it but not on his own. There were crores of intellectual people who had belief in him. That is why we say him as mahatma.. He was recognised by intellectuals who has brought us out of british slavery....
I don't know how far people are succesful with wars and radical thoughts. But people have always been succesful with a weapon called PEACE.
Mahatma recognition was given by people who has seen and experienced Gandhi's power. Azad was propagted by people who has seen the determination of chandrasekher. Do we deserve to question their achivements??
But What so ever our India's current situation is
EVEN PARAMATMA CAN NOT CHANGE INDIA AS LONG AS PEOPLE DO NOT RECOGNISE THEIR VALUES AND RESPONSIBILITIES SO HOW CAN WE EXPECT MAHATMA TO DO IT????

Wow... you guys are incredible. Discussing if gandhi was a mahatma.. crores of people have listened to one person and followed him. Can any of guys even dream of doing such a thing? He was such a great leader. I thought one of the guys said, SC bose met great leaders like hitler and mussolini. Hats of to you buddy, calling hitler and mussolini great leaders and blaming mahatma.. Hey, you still have so many years of life before you.. lets see how many of you can impact the lives of indians in a positive way.. Yeah.. it is easy to point fingers at a person. But, please think if you are even eligible to talk about such a person. People who think sachin and amitabh and chiranjeevi as gods are talking about mahatma... Don't know where we are going...

INDIA should in the hands of the people than in the hands of an INDIVIDUAL. Do we need a cinematic heroes or a real countribution by the people. Educate the people we can have more and more MK Gandhi's and better than MK Gandhi's.

Well guys since many people here has expressed some radical opinions i too dare.....
I think its direct indication of our bankrupt intellect and souls that we are evaluating past leaders......
they were mens of those times who had to deal with those circumstances and situations......
Don't justify by saying its a learning value because all i can see in this disc is the blame game......
so probably we would be better off if we can stop this and discuss on the lines of why do we think they did what they did in the light of their limitations without blaming them for present situation.....
the present situation is present situation since we as teh people living in present are doing nothing to change it....
yes i agree the past will and do have some cause and effect relation on today.....but whether it stays that way or changes has to be dealt by present.....
since back to future can only be a hollywood movie......
on the other hand how many of you would u support brothers killing brothers in rayalaseema or elsewhere in the name of money and politics......
and if u still don't see the analogy......
i really think kaliyug is round the corner... in other words for the scientific buffs....man has lost his utility in biological evolution atleast the Indian race....

Weather it is SCbose,MKG or Godse. They all believed in thier principles and worked for the same cause. No doubt about it. Mandela, Dr MartinLuther king(MLK). They r inspired by Gandhiji's principles

All they would have given you an Independence probably a few yrs before but a hell hundered yrs long life under bunkers after that. We were not ready and we are not ready to live like that. So I am proud to say I am gandhian
